D3 steel Tool steel with 12% ledeburitic chromium and excellent wear resistance. Essentially used as cutting tools for sheets up to 4 mm thick, trimming dies, blanking dies for paper and plastics, shear cutting edges, and rotational shear edges for sheet thicknesses up to 2 mm.

D3 steel is a high carbon 2% and high chromium 12% tool steel with excellent wear resistance. Its supply condition is generally annealed for easy machining, with a suggested hardness of 57-58 HRC once dies and tools are made.
